The East Midlands brings together six counties — Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire — each rich in history, landscapes, and community spirit. Home to vibrant cities and rural villages alike, it’s a region where learning, friendship, and discovery thrive. Across our local u3as, members share skills, explore new interests, and celebrate the diversity that makes this part of England so distinctive.
The East Midlands Support Team
The support team for East Midlands u3as is a small group of u3a members who support the Region by hosting events and workshops, encouraging shared learning and research projects, and offering practical guidance for new and established committees. We also keep members informed about regional developments, county network activity and the work of Council Representatives. Whether you’re discovering u3a for the first time or already part of a local group, the East Midlands Region is here to help you Learn, Laugh and Live alongside others across all our counties. News Bulletin July 2026 - Available now!
July 2026 East Midlands u3a bulletin: Council Reps Rosie Allen and John Butler report on regional plans and activity — three regional workshops (first on 13 October plus sessions in March and April 2027), a soon‑to‑launch new regional website, the Third Age Trust’s national marketing strategy (“Learn, Laugh, Live”), available grants to support local recruitment and events, and a round‑up of Network news and anniversaries.

Forthcoming events

More than 80 members from u3as across the East Midlands came together on 11 March for a lively regional workshop day at Braunstone Civic Centre. Alongside Allan Walmsley’s call for u3as to look ahead and stay relevant, members took part in practical workshops on attracting new members, developing activities, and motivating volunteers through confidence‑building and shared responsibilities.
