Our Council Representatives visit Grantham and Northampton for special celebrations!

During the course of this week our Council Representatives, Rosie Allen and John Butler, have been travelling around the region after invites to join Grantham u3a for their 25th Anniversary Celebration, and Northampton U3A for their 40th Anniversary Celebration.
At Grantham, there were speeches, interviews, and performances onstage, and a video played showing both significant moments in their history, and another detailing their active interest groups.
That was followed by a champagne toast and cutting of a u3a coloured cake which the members then got to enjoy after two of the founder members cut it!
Northampton’s celebration was a 1920’s Gatsby Murder Mystery themed 3 course Gala Dinner, where during the meal the members (and the Northampton Mayor) were invited to decide on the murderer, in a show delivered by a professional team of actors.
We can reveal the the Butler did it, and prizes were awarded to both the members on the winning table and the best sartorially dressed male and female u3a members.
Congratulations to both u3as on their significant milestones!

April 2026 East Midlands u3a bulletin: The first bulletin from new Council Representatives Rosie Allen and John Butler introduces themselves, explains how they’ll represent the region at the Third Age Trust, and summarises Trust priorities — Promote, Support, and Strengthen — with a strong emphasis on recruitment, a refreshed marketing push, and an independent membership survey called Inside u3a.
